Weather Deoghar Jharkhand: Deoghar is the main city of the Deoghar district in the Santhal Parganas division of Jharkhand state, India. It is an important Hindu pilgrimage center along with the Baidyanath Temple, one of the twelve Shiva Jyotirlingas in India, and one of the 51 Shaktipeeths of India. It is located 150 km from the largest city of the region, Bhagalpur. Deoghar was earlier a part of the Dumka district. It is the 5th largest city of Jharkhand.

How did Deoghar get its name?
Deoghar is a Hindi word and the literal meaning of ‘Devghar’ is the abode (‘ghar’) of the gods and goddesses (‘dev’). Also, Deoghar is known as “Baidyanath Dham”, “Baba Dham”, and “B. Deoghar”. And the origin of Baidyanathdham is lost in antiquity. It is referred to as Haritakivan or Ketkivan in Sanskrit texts. The name Deoghar appears to be recent and is probably associated with the construction of the great temple of Lord Baidyanath. Religious Significance
Deoghar, also known as Baidyanath Dham, is an important Hindu pilgrimage site. It is one of the twelve and also one of the 51, and is famous for the fair of Shravan, the fourth month according to the Hindu calendar system. It is one of the few places in India, along with Srisailam, where Jyotirlinga and Shaktipeeth are together, located next to each other. In the Deoghar Yatra every year between July and August (on the eve of the month of Shravan), about 7 to 8 million devotees from different parts of India bring holy water from different stretches of the Ganges to Sultanganj, which is about 108 km from Deoghar to offer it to Lord Shiva. During that month, a queue of people in saffron-colored clothes stretches for the entire 108 km. It is the longest fair in Asia.
Baidyanath or the temple of Lord Shiva is the most important of all the temples located in the courtyard. The temple faces east and is a plain stone structure with a pyramidal tower 72 feet tall. The top has three ascending-sized gold vessels which are set compactly and were donated by the Maharaja of Gidhaur. Apart from these pitcher-shaped utensils, there is also a Panchasula (five knives in the shape of a trident), which is rare. The inner top has an eight-petalled lotus gem called Chandrakanta Mani.
